Fin de Siècle: the Rather Good Edition
Game Chef is nearly over for another year, but I've enjoyed my entry so much that I've produced a somewhat expanded version. The original, Game Chef edition of Fin de Siecle is still available, as is the plain text version on the Game Texts page but the Rather Good edition includes a bonus chapter on a new rules mechanic, some illustrations and a streamlined version of the rules to make it easier to play. The game remains a kind of Victorian Fringe, with the protagonists investigating abuses of science in a world inspired by the works of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. Play and enjoy! |

On your left is the first of the gateways to the many worlds of Groundhoggoth...
- Never to Die: my 2010 Game Chef winning game, soon to be published.
- Micro-Games: games that take up less than a page of space, no download required.
- Mini-Games: short, quick play games that require little to no prep and can be played in under 2 hours.
- Maxi-Games: longer games that require more detailed character creation and are suitable for campaign play.
- Laboratory: a mixed bag of untested games that need volunteers to playtest them.
- Actual Play: some reports of actual play sessions, often featuring games and scenarios available on this site!
- Game Texts: A place to read the full texts of some games, rather then downloading the pdf and printing it out.
- Dice & Card Games: Non-RPGs you can try at home, after you spend a little time making your own cards.
- Redacted: There is nothing here.

This is a new collectible RPG in a Golden Age Superheroes vein: to play, you just need any set of the playbooks, with at least one per player. Each playbook gives you a pre-made character and all the rules needed to play them or to run the game for others. I'd love to know what people think about this, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Playbooks
The Seraph: Angelic Defender of the Downtrodden!
Dynama: Unstoppable Woman of Energy!
Dr. Fauna: Master of the Animal Kingdom!
Photus: Mightiest Mechanical Marvel of the Age!
Miss Mob: The Invincible One Woman Army!
The Haste: The Man Who can Outrun Death! |
